Most of the year 3 to 15 pound red fish (red drum) are present in the shallow waters around the camp. These fish can be fished with live or artificial bait on casting rods or fly rods. A guide with a pole maneuvers the boat in shallow water with the angler on a platform on the front of the boat where most of the time the fish indicate they are present by ripples on the water, or the backs of the fish are seen. Accurate casting results in a explosion on the water as the fish strikes the lour. The red fish is one of our most prized game fish for the tremendous battle it gives the angler as well as the flavor of the meat.
